Mediation Process Explained
Mediation is a process by which people in disputes are helped in creating plans for the future.  We provide mediation services for a variety of family disputes including couples who have decided to separate, disputes between family members such as siblings, regarding estates, pertaining to adoption connections and contact, and family-owned businesses.

Mediation is a private, collaborative process which is both cost effective and time efficient.  In choosing mediation individuals will learn how to communicate more effectively, to be heard and learn to listen better - to minimize conflict in the future.  Rather than arm's length decisions being made by lawyers or the courts (a judge), in this collaborative environment plans are discussed and agreed upon that are tailor-made to the needs of the people involved.  The mediator's role is to facilitate the process not determine the outcome.

Portfolio Donna Bond has been a  mediator for 21 years, an Early Childhood & Parent Educator for over 35 years and currently works with children, youth and adults in a school-based student-support program - a background, experience and training allowing her to be extremely helpful and productive in mediated sessions.

The Family Mediator's Role.

  • The mediator helps parties  agree on issues related to children, support, division of property (assets) and liabilities (debt), custody of and care of children and any other family-related issues that need to be addressed.    The mediator guides but does not make decisions about the outcome nor gives legal or financial advice.  Parties are encouraged before, during and prior to signing any Memorandum of Understanding reached in mediation to obtain legal advice to make sure each person knows his or her rights and obligations.
  • Please see  FAQ  for more information regarding the suitability of your particular circumstances, the process, what to expect, how long it might take, the cost compared to other alternatives, scheduling appointments and much more.  And "in the end issues will have been addressed, solutions found, helping to create a manageable and tolerable future for all concerned."
